Mr. Olmstead Holds a Tarantula & Ball Python!

Posted on: March 21st, 2017 by Admin

Cornerstone Christian Academy Administrator, Tom Olmstead, promised Kindergarten through fifth grade students that if they raised funds for a worthy cause he would have an assembly where the kids could watch him hold a tarantula and ball python!

Mrs. Donna High, librarian, challenged primary students to donate to a coin drive for bilingual books to be purchased for The Johannes Gutenburg School in Huanta, Peru. The Johannes Gutenburg School is a Christian preschool through 12th grade school. A team of Cornerstone high school students will visit the school over Easter break in April on a missions trip, personally delivering the books to the students. The Cornerstone high school team also raised funds to purchase playground equipment for this school located almost 4,000 miles away. The team will assemble the playground equipment while on the trip, and work with the children of the school.

The Midwest Museum of Natural History in Sycamore brought in the promised tarantula and ball python, along with a walking stick, on Friday March 17th.  Beth Gilliam, the Volunteer and Event Coordinator from the museum, taught the students about these creatures. Students were delighted to see these fascinating critters crawl on their school Administrator!
