Jr High and High School Dress Code

7-12th Dress Code

General Appearance

Clothing must always be modest and not a source of distraction or disruption to the school based on the opinion of the administration. The body is basically to be covered from the shoulders to the knees. The dress code applies to CCA students during the school day as well as at CCA functions. A dress code violation will result in a demerit. Please see the Discipline Policy for additional details.

  • All clothing must conform to the student’s physique without being too tight or excessively baggy.
  • All acceptable shirts, sweaters, and sweatshirts must be of a generous length so as not to reveal any midriff or lower back due to stretching, sitting, or bending over. Tight-fitting shirts are not allowed.
  • All pants and shorts must be hemmed. Cut-off shorts are not allowed.
  • Pants, shorts and skirts must ride above the hips. No underwear will show.
  • Jeans with frayed bottoms, ragged seams, tears, holes, patches, dirty in appearance, or writing on them are not allowed.
  • Gym / athletic shorts are not permitted.
  • Warm-up pants, warm-up outfits, and pajama bottoms are not allowed. This includes CCA issued.
  • Tank tops; exposed midriffs and cleavage; bare backs; bare shoulders; halter tops; tube tops; spaghetti strap garments; and see-through, translucent, and minimal button clothing are not permitted. Undergarments must not show or be visible through clothing.
  • The hemline of all shorts, skorts, skirts, and dresses must be no more than 4″ above the knee.
  • Button down shirts, polo shirts, T-shirts, and sweatshirts are permitted. Shirts must not contain wording or pictures. The only exception to this is Christian wording. Approved CCA logos and markings are acceptable. Designer logos and markings are not allowed. College, university, and recognized professional athletic teams are not allowed for 7th and 8th graders but will be allowed for 9th to 12th graders as long as they are not offensive, per administrative evaluation. Small, inoffensive logos that are approximate in size to the new, approved CCA logo are acceptable.
  • Jackets, hats, caps, blankets, etc. are not allowed to be worn while in the building.
  • Footwear will be worn at all times. Socks or stockings are suggested with all styles of shoes except sandals, clogs and flip-flops. Slipper and shoes with extremely high heels are not permitted.
  • Hair must be neatly groomed and conservative in appearance, with boys’ hair trimmed so as not to touch the shirt collar. Hair must not be worn over the eyes; both eyes must be visible. Hair coloring is only allowed if it does not present an unusual appearance.
  • Subculture fashion, which includes, but is not limited to, clothing, cosmetics, and accessories, is not permitted.
  • Cosmetics should be moderate and natural in appearance. Distracting appearances, such as the “gothic look,” black fingernails, to mention a few, are not permitted.

When in doubt, do not wear it. In the best interest of all, it would be better to review the garment or style in question with the staff than to wear it, be wrong, and receive a demerit.

Chapel Dress

  • Polo or button shirts / blouses with the approved CCA logo are required. Contact the office for available colors and styles.
  • Casual dress pants (Docker-style only; jean-style and cargo not allowed). Girls are permitted to wear either the same style of pants or skirts (no denim). Acceptable colors are khaki, dark forest green, medium gray, navy, and black.
  • Belts are required for pants with loops (low-riding pants and skirts are not allowed).
  • Ladies may wear skirts that are no more that 4″ above the knee.
  • Skorts are not allowed on chapel day.
  • Leather shoes (one color) must be worn with chapel dress. Ladies may wear leather sandals.
  • CCA will require that students, including athletes, involved in school-sponsored field trips and cocurricular activities representing CCA will need to be in chapel dress. Home school students will also be required to abide by this rule.
