On the evening of Friday, February 26th, 2015, Cornerstone hosted our first ever Science Olympiad and it was a great success! Students and their families had a blast learning through barge building, building marshmallow towers, looking through microscopes, racing tin cans, building paper airplanes, launching gummy bears, creating balloon zip-lines, bridge building, and more!
The students who won each event were honored with ribbons at our all school 40th birthday party assembly on Monday, February 29th. The purpose of this event was to promote STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics activities at Cornerstone. Cornerstone is working to include STEM enhancements throughout our school’s curriculum, and to increase the array of learning opportunities in these subject areas. The goal is to give students the following skills: adaptability, complex communication, social skills, non-routine problem solving, self-management, and systems thinking.
